The Sterzing Bell Christmas
Christmas magic, traditions and the sound of bells in Sterzing, South Tyrol
The Sterzinger Glockenweihnacht is an enchanting Christmas market that immerses visitors in the special atmosphere of the pre-Christmas season in the charming late medieval mining town of Sterzing in South Tyrol. Bells play a central role in this festive event and accompany us throughout the year. But at Christmas time they sound especially sweet and touch our hearts with their magical sound.
Sterzing, the highest town in South Tyrol, radiates a very special magic during Advent. The historic old town is dominated by imposing cultural monuments and the striking Zwölferturm tower dating back to the 15th century. The snow-covered landscape gives Sterzing and the surrounding mountain peaks a fairytale atmosphere, and as night falls, warm lights and fairy lights illuminate the streets of the town.
The opening hours of the Sterzing Bell Christmas extend from November 23, 2023 to January 6, 2024. On most days, visitors can enjoy the Christmas market from 10:00 am to 7:00 pm. The city and the surrounding countryside are decorated with Advent wreaths and festive decorations. The sweet smell of freshly baked Christmas treats like Spitzbuam, Zelten and Stollen fills the air and seduces the senses.
