The Val Gardena Christmas Valley invites visitors to experience the festive atmosphere of the pre-Christmas season. From handicrafts to local delicacies, the traditional markets offer a wide variety of products. The unique event will take place from December 1, 2023 to January 7, 2024 against the breathtaking backdrop of the Dolomites UNESCO World Natural Heritage Site.

Ortisei in Val Gardena: The most exclusive Christmas village in the Alps

During the Christmas season Ortisei is transformed into the most exclusive and picturesque Christmas village in the Alps. Here the historical tradition of Val Gardena is combined with elegance and exclusivity. The typical wooden cottages invite you to enjoy local products and culinary delights in a romantic atmosphere. From original arts and crafts to delicious Christmas sweets, visitors will find plenty of gift ideas. In addition, the Christmas village offers numerous folkloric performances that will make the hearts of visitors beat faster.

Every weekend, Friday to Sunday, from 11:00 to 19:00.

Selva Gardena: Mountain Christmas in the glow of lights

Selva Gardena presents the Mountain Christmas with an imposing 350-meter-long band of lights, on which small wooden houses of the mountain railroads are suspended. Over mulled wine and Christmas cookies, visitors can admire the festive decorations and listen to Christmas sounds.

S. Cristina in Val Gardena: Advent atmosphere on Monte Pana

In S. Cristina, visitors experience Advent atmosphere at the idyllic Monte Pana Lake, at the foot of the majestic Sassolungo. On two Sundays, December 10 and 17, 2023, the mountain lake will be transformed into a magical Christmas landscape. Here, guests can listen to Advent melodies amid a quiet winter landscape and enjoy Christmas delicacies with mulled wine and tea.

The Sterzinger Glockenweihnacht is an enchanting Christmas market that immerses visitors in the special atmosphere of the pre-Christmas season in the charming late medieval mining town of Sterzing in South Tyrol. Bells play a central role in this festive event and accompany us throughout the year. But at Christmas time they sound especially sweet and touch our hearts with their magical sound.

Sterzing, the highest town in South Tyrol, radiates a very special magic during Advent. The historic old town is dominated by imposing cultural monuments and the striking Zwölferturm tower dating back to the 15th century. The snow-covered landscape gives Sterzing and the surrounding mountain peaks a fairytale atmosphere, and as night falls, warm lights and fairy lights illuminate the streets of the town.

The opening hours of the Sterzing Bell Christmas extend from November 23, 2023 to January 6, 2024. On most days, visitors can enjoy the Christmas market from 10:00 am to 7:00 pm. However, there are also special opening hours, such as on November 24 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. and December 5, when the market is open until 11 p.m. On Christmas Eve, the market closes at 1 p.m., and it will remain closed on Dec. 25. On New Year’s Eve, visitors can shop from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., and on New Year’s Day, the market opens at noon and closes at 7 p.m.

The Sterzing Bell Christmas transforms Sterzing into a festive oasis where people experience a different rhythm and reflect on the special traditions and customs of the Christmas season. The city and the surrounding countryside are decorated with Advent wreaths and festive decorations. The sweet smell of freshly baked Christmas treats like Spitzbuam, Zelten and Stollen fills the air and seduces the senses. Children can have fun making Christmas tree decorations and feel the anticipation of the holiday.
